Last updated October 27, 2026. Written by the CodeWing team, using our own checks of the official Minecraft Preview TestFlight link.

If you have tried to get Minecraft Preview on your iPhone, you have probably seen the same grey message we have: "This beta is full." There is no Minecraft Preview in the App Store, no button in the regular game, and the one official way in, Mojang's TestFlight link, almost never has room.

We run CodeWing, a site that watches public TestFlight betas and tells people when they open. Since mid-October our checker has opened the Minecraft Preview link 2,126 times, every few minutes, day and night. This guide explains how to join, why the beta is nearly always full, and, most usefully, what those checks show about when spots actually open and how long they last.

The short version

  • On iPhone and iPad, Minecraft Preview is only available through Apple's TestFlight app, using Mojang's public link.
  • It is full almost all the time. In our checks since October 17, 2026 it opened twice, and both times the spots were gone within minutes.
  • Spots free up when inactive testers are removed. Guides say this happens on the 1st of each month; we also saw it open on October 24 and 25.
  • There are no codes. If you want in, the only thing that matters is being quick when it opens.
  • You can see the live status any time on our Minecraft Preview page.

What is Minecraft Preview, and why is it different on iPhone?

Minecraft Preview is Mojang's test version of Minecraft (Bedrock Edition). It gets upcoming features before everyone else: new mobs, blocks, biomes and the changes that end up in the next big update. The catch is that it is unfinished. Things break, get changed, or disappear from one build to the next, and that is the point. Mojang uses it to find problems before an update ships.

On consoles and Windows, Preview is something you can usually just download. On iPhone and iPad it works differently. Apple does not let developers put test versions in the App Store, so Mojang distributes Preview through TestFlight, Apple's own app for beta testing. According to the Minecraft Wiki, Preview came to iOS and iPadOS on January 31, 2022 as a separate app, and the first round was limited to just 500 testers, later expanded.

Minecraft on iPhone: a lush cave with glowing berries and a creeper
Minecraft on iPhone (App Store screenshot, Mojang). Preview looks the same; it just has the features that aren't out yet.

Three things are worth knowing before you get excited:

  • It is a separate app. Minecraft Preview installs next to the normal game; it does not replace it.
  • Your worlds stay separate. Worlds you play in Preview can't be opened in the regular game afterwards. If you want to try an existing world in Preview, play a copy, never your only save.
  • Some things are switched off. Achievements don't work in Preview, it can't join regular Bedrock servers, and Realms subscribers get a separate Preview Realm instead of their usual one.

What you need before you start

  • An iPhone or iPad signed in to your Apple Account.
  • The TestFlight app, free from the App Store. If you have never used it, our guide on how to install TestFlight takes two minutes.
  • About 1 GB of free space. The Minecraft Wiki lists the iOS Preview at roughly 935 MB, and it grows as you play.
  • Your Microsoft account, the one you use in Minecraft, for online features.
  • Patience, and fast thumbs. More on that below.

How to join Minecraft Preview on iPhone, step by step

How to join Minecraft Preview on iPhone in four steps 1 Get TestFlight Free from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple Account if it asks. 2 Open Mojang's link testflight.apple.com/join/ qC1ZnReJ, on the iPhone you want to play on. 3 Accept + Install Only works while there's a free spot. Otherwise you see "This beta is full." 4 Keep playing Open Preview at least once a month. Inactive players can lose their spot.
The whole process. Step 3 is the hard part.
  1. Install TestFlight from the App Store and open it once so it is ready.
  2. Open the official link on your iPhone: testflight.apple.com/join/qC1ZnReJ. This is Mojang's public Minecraft Preview link. Open it in Safari on the device you want to play on; it hands you over to TestFlight.
  3. If there is a free spot, TestFlight shows Minecraft Preview with an Accept button. Tap it, then Install. You are in, and the spot is yours as long as you stay active.
  4. Open Minecraft Preview from your home screen, sign in with your Microsoft account, and play.

Step 3 is where almost everyone gets stuck, because nine times out of ten (realistically, more like ninety-nine out of a hundred) the link shows "This beta is full" instead of an Accept button.

Why it says "This beta is full" almost every time

Every TestFlight beta has a limited number of tester seats. Apple allows a developer up to 10,000 external testers per app (see Apple's TestFlight page), and Mojang decides how many of those it opens for Preview. It hasn't said what the current number is. What we do know is how it behaves: the seats are taken, and a new one only appears when someone leaves or is removed.

Mojang says this on the TestFlight page itself: "Due to limited availability, inactive players may lose access to Minecraft Preview." In other words, people who stop playing get removed from time to time, and their seats go back into the pool. Whoever opens the link first gets them. That's the whole system. For the public link there is no queue, no waiting list and no priority.

A quick warning, because we see the searches for it every day: there is no Minecraft Preview "code". Public TestFlight links like this one don't use codes at all. Any site or video offering a code, a "generator", or a paid invite for Minecraft Preview on iPhone is wasting your time at best. The only legitimate way in is the link above, at a moment when it has room. (If you're curious about the mechanics, we wrote more about what "This beta is full" means.)

When does Minecraft Preview open? What 2,126 checks show

This is the part most guides skip, because they don't have the data. We do. Our checker has been opening the Minecraft Preview link every few minutes since October 17, 2026 and recording what Apple's page says: open, full, or not accepting testers. Here is everything it saw up to the morning of October 27.

Minecraft Preview TestFlight status, October 17 to 27, 2026 Minecraft Preview on TestFlight, Oct 17–27 2 openings: Oct 24 (8–24 min), Oct 25 (≤11 min) Oct 17 19 21 23 25 27 Full (no spots) Open (drawn wider than real)
2,126 checks of the official link. Full the whole time, except two openings that lasted minutes. Times in UTC.

That purple bar is not a design choice. In the last seven days alone, the link was full on 1,602 of 1,606 checks. Minecraft Preview had room for new testers on just two occasions:

Opening Open → full (UTC) How long
Sat, Oct 24 11:40 → 11:52 8 to 24 min
Sun, Oct 25 02:51 → 02:56 under 11 min

Why ranges instead of exact numbers? Because a checker only sees the moments it looks. On October 24 the link was still full at 11:29, open at 11:40, still open at 11:48, and full again at 11:52. So the window lasted at least 8 minutes and at most 24. On October 25 it was full at 02:45, open at 02:51 and full again at 02:56, so it was open for somewhere under 11 minutes, and likely only a few.

How long the two Minecraft Preview openings lasted How long the spots lasted (min) Oct 24 seen open 8 could be up to 24 Oct 25 seen once; up to 11 0510 152025 Dark: open on our checks. Light: the most possible.
Even in the best case, the October 24 window was shorter than a lunch break.

So is it really "the first of every month"?

You'll read in a lot of places, including the Minecraft Wiki, that iOS Preview spots are freed on the first day of each month. That may well be when Mojang does its big clean-up of inactive testers, and we'll be watching the link closely on November 1 to see.

But our data already shows it is not the only time. Both openings we caught were in the last week of October, on a Saturday morning (UTC) and in the early hours of a Sunday. Seats can come back any day, whenever testers leave on their own or Mojang removes some. If you only try on the 1st, you will miss openings like these.

How fast you need to be

Here is the October 25 opening, minute by minute. It's the clearest picture we have of what you're up against.

The October 25 opening, minute by minute October 25, 2026 (UTC) 02:51 opens Plus emails go out 02:56 full spots gone 02:45 full 02:54 Telegram post 2 min before it filled Shaded: open on our checks (it may have opened earlier).
From "open" to "full" in under five minutes on our checks.

Our free Telegram channel posted that opening at 02:54. Two minutes later the beta was full again. If you happened to be asleep, in class, or just had notifications muted, it was over before you saw it. That's not bad luck; it's how popular TestFlight betas work. Far more people want a seat than there are seats.

So the strategy is simple, even if executing it isn't:

  • Get told the moment it opens. Our free Telegram channel, @testflight_link, posts openings of popular betas like this one. Turn notifications on for it, or the post is useless.
  • Have everything ready. TestFlight installed, signed in, and the link saved. When the alert comes, you want to be one tap away, not downloading TestFlight.
  • Tap first, read later. Open the link the second you see the alert, and don't stop to read anything before you tap Accept and Install.
  • Keep checking the live status on our Minecraft Preview page. It shows whether the link is open right now and when it last opened.

A note on how we pay for all this checking: CodeWing Plus. Plus members who save Minecraft Preview get an email the moment our checker sees it open, before the public Telegram post goes out. It costs $1.49 a month (₹99 in India), and you can cancel any time. It's optional; the Telegram channel stays free, and plenty of people get in with it. Details are on our pricing page.

Got in? Here's how to keep your spot

  • Play at least once a month. Mojang can remove inactive players to make room. If Preview sits untouched on your phone, you can lose the seat you worked for.
  • Let TestFlight update it. New Preview builds come out often, and each TestFlight build expires after 90 days. Turn on automatic updates in TestFlight so you're never stuck on an expired version.
  • Don't risk your main worlds. Preview worlds can't go back to the regular game. Export a copy of a world from Minecraft first and play the copy.
  • Report what breaks. That is what Preview is for. Mojang takes bugs at bugs.mojang.com and ideas at feedback.minecraft.net.
  • Leaving? Free the seat. In TestFlight, open Minecraft Preview and tap Stop Testing. Someone else gets your spot.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Minecraft Preview TestFlight code?

No. Minecraft Preview uses a public TestFlight link, and public links don't need a code. Anyone offering a "code" or selling an invite can't get you in any faster than the link itself.

Why can't I find Minecraft Preview in the App Store?

Because it isn't there. Test versions on iPhone and iPad are distributed only through TestFlight, so the official Minecraft Preview link is the only way to install it.

Does Minecraft Preview work on iPad?

Yes. The same TestFlight link works on iPad, and the steps are identical.

How often does Minecraft Preview open on iOS?

Rarely, and briefly. In our checks since October 17, 2026 it opened twice, on October 24 and 25, for minutes each time. Guides also point to the 1st of each month as the main reset; we'll add what we see on November 1 to this page.

Will joining Preview affect my normal Minecraft worlds?

Not unless you move them. Preview is a separate app with its own worlds. Just remember that anything you open in Preview stays in Preview, so always use a copy.

Is it safe to install?

Yes, as long as you use the official link. TestFlight is Apple's own beta platform, and the link at testflight.apple.com/join/qC1ZnReJ belongs to Mojang's Minecraft Preview program. Avoid sites that ask for your Microsoft or Apple password in exchange for "access".

The bottom line

Getting Minecraft Preview on iPhone isn't complicated: install TestFlight, open Mojang's link, tap Accept. What makes it hard is timing. The link is full nearly all the time, and when it opens, the seats are gone within minutes. Have TestFlight ready, get an alert you'll actually notice, and tap the moment it comes.

We'll keep checking the link every few minutes and update this guide as more openings come in, including whatever happens on November 1. Until then, the live status is always on our Minecraft Preview page.
